Seminar 2019

BQSG 2019 Seminar

Holiday Inn, Farnborough, GU14 6AZ

25- 27 October 2019

Whatever else may happen in 2019, one reliable source of interest and stimulation is the annual BQSG Seminar.

The Committee was pleased to announce that the Seminar was to be held at the Holiday Inn, Lynchford Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, GU14 6AZ.  This 140-bed hotel has free wi-fi, a fitness centre, indoor pool and ample parking.  It is 6 miles (approx. 17 minutes by car) from the location of our Friday study sessions in Farnham, Surrey.

The study sessions on Friday 25 October were at the Crafts Study Centre, University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, GU9 7DS.  Here we saw a range of items (textile and documentary) from the Crafts Study Centre’s own collection, in addition to a selection of items from the (neighbouring) Textiles Collection of UCA Farnham.  As well as items from the Muriel Rose Bequest (which feature in both collections), we were able to take a close look at a very wide range of textiles.

As our visit coincided with Farnham’s “October Craft Month”, there was much else to see of interest, including “The Crafts Study Centre @ 50” exhibition and special exhibits at other town centre locations, such as the New Ashgate Gallery and Farnham Museum.
