British Quilt Study Group
On-line Seminar, 22nd to 24th October 2021
For the last 20 years the Annual Seminar has been a stimulating and social highlight for members of the British Quilt Study Group, a special interest group of the Quilters’ Guild.
We are moving the Seminar on-line (via Zoom) for 2021 and hope to preserve something of the atmosphere of our usual Seminar weekend. With the extra capacity provided by Zoom, we are inviting members of the Quilters’ Guild (not already BQSG members) to join us for our seminar weekend.
Our keynote speaker will be Joanna Hashagen, Curator of Fashion & Textiles, Bowes Museum. Joanna will talk about her 40-year career at Bowes Museum; the Bowes Textile collection and the co-curation of the current North Country Quilt Exhibition with Dorothy Osler.
Over Saturday and Sunday, three BQSG members will present papers on their research: Debs McGuire, Marybeth Stalp and Dorothy Hill.
Three breakout sessions have been scheduled: those on Saturday at 11.45am and Sunday at 10.45am are for you to enjoy meeting old and new friends. The session on Saturday at 3pm will focus on various aspects of Quilt Research.

The presentations will be recorded (to enable participants to catch-up or watch again). The breakout sessions will not be recorded. If you do not want your image to appear in any of the recordings, you may – at your own discretion – switch off the “video” function: you will be able to hear and see everything but no-one will be able to see you.
If you cannot watch all the presentations live, the recorded sessions will be made available (to those who have paid their booking fee) for a period of four weeks after the event. Participants will be notified when the recorded sessions have been uploaded.
