There were many beautiful quilts at the recent exhibition "The Blossoming of Patchwork" at the Quilt Museum. But for many viewers, this was one of the most striking:

Appliqué frame coverlet made from printed dress cottons, with an outer frame of furnishing fabric. The central circular medallion has petal shaped pieces forming a large flower, which is outlined by a zigzag edged square frame, with surrounding borders of alternating triangles and zigzag shapes. The coverlet has an embroidered name and date in cross stitch in the centre ‘S. Challans
