Overview

BQSG PUBLICATIONS

BQSG produces two regular publications, Culcita and Quilt Studies and occasional small guides will also be published.  The most recent, ‘Twenty Years a-Growing - Quilt History Research in Britain, 1998-2018’ and also the popular Turkey Red are both available direct from BQSG.  To obtain copies of these and back copies of Quilt Studies (some issues may not be available) please contact QSeditor_bqsg@quiltersguild.org.uk or bqsg@quiltersguild.org.uk in the first instance.

Newsletters

The BQSG newsletter Culcita is issued twice each year – in January and September.  In the interim e-newsletters will be sent out with any other “Stop Press” items.  The next copy deadline for contributions for 2019 is 12 May for an additional brief newsletter in June.  Culcita carries news, membership information, occasional short research articles, notes, book reviews, booking forms for events, together with a ‘What’s on’ guide for a selection of exhibitions that may interest members.  It also provides a forum for members to share information and research questions and the events calendar keeps members up to date with what’s happening in the textile world.  The newsletters are edited by a BQSG Committee member who is usually in post for three years.

Contributions to both Culcita and the e-newsletters are welcome - simply contact the editor at newsbqsg@quiltersguild.org.uk in the first instance to discuss any proposed article.  News of events, exhibitions and talks of interest to members are also welcome.

To keep postage costs to a minimum Culcita is emailed to members.  Those who wish to receive their copy by post should inform the committee when they join BQSG or at any time during their membership.

Quilt Studies

BQSG publishes the papers presented at our annual Seminar in the research journal Quilt Studies which is published in May/June each year.  The issues are soft-bound and contain black and white as well as colour illustrations.  All members and Associates receive one copy as part of their subscription following renewal in May. Institutional Associates also receive one copy.

Quilt Studies is edited by a BQSG Committee member who is usually in post for three years. We are very fortunate to have a number of members who are qualified to take on the role of Editor.
