Muriel Markland

I live in Perth (previously living in Kinross-shire) and have been quilting for over 25 years. I did City and Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting, Embroidery and Machine Embroidery. I enjoy making quilts and cushions for our eight grandchildren and for our daughters' friends' babies, but I also enjoy making more contemporary quilts and wallhangings. I used to be a committee member of both the regional committee as the representative for Fife, Perth, Kinross and Clackmannan and then as the Sales representative. Also, I used to be a committee member (dare I say it!) of the local Embroiderers' Guild as I feel there is much overlap between the two disciplines. Visiting Quilt shows, both in the UK and in other countries, especially the USA, is also a favourite 'occupation' of mine. My husband, John, ( a non - quilting trustee of the Guild) usually plans a nice holiday to fit around it so that I can also visit local quilt shops, including the famous Hancocks of Paducah, as well as other sight seeing. I still go to the Powmill Quilt group where I am one of the founder members and in 2013 we celebrated 20 years and held a Quilt Show in September 2013.
