Louise Jessup

I have had a long journey in Mental Health but am now in Recovery and Public Speak about "A journey in Mental Health with Textiles as a Companion"
My talk encompasses how having and doing a creative subject like Quilting can foster a very real feeling of well being. Although I am not an award winning quilter as such, I regularly enter the big shows and am very much still learning this fascinating subject. Amongst my finished textiles, I have three quilts which show my journey from the depths of depression to leading now a happy and content life.
My talks are said to be inspirational and I seek to show that wherever we are on life's journey we all have something powerful to say and I hope to share and bring a really positive view of how we can use textiles to keep us well and still learning our craft in spite of life's ups and downs
For Quilting work I like to feel that I sit on the junction of quilting and embroidery and have a particular love of free machine embroidery.

My journey continues and I was thrilled when my giraffe quilt called "The Dung Beetle" was selected go go onto the back of the Quilters Guild Calendar in 2017 and in 2019 my quilt "David Loved Butterflies" recieved a Highly Commended in 2019. In 2018 I was privileged to be selected into The Textile Fine Art Quilt Masters competition with my quilt called "Venice, the Treasure Within"

During the pandemic I have come off all psychiatric medication after 40 years and growing now, leaving all that behind, to develop my quilting journey and hopefully embrace a bright creative future with my ever growing love of Textile Art

The journey continues!
