Julia Langley

I have sewn for as long as I can remember ,starting with Barbie dresses (if you can call a rectangle with a hole for the head and a sash at the waist a dress....) and a sewing machine has been a source of income ,creativity and comfort for most of my adult life. I started quilting 30 years ago and have been teaching in the Taunton and Bridgwater area for the last 9 years and can honestly say it has been the best job ever!
I am also an educator for Janome Uk working at shows as a demonstrator as well as running their Janome Stitch Club UK a free monthly live feed on You Tube with a project based lesson on stitches, feet or techniques.
As such my speciality as a teacher is, definitely, getting the best from your machine to help the patchwork and quilting process. As I get older I become more and more aware of how hand stitching techniques are becoming physically harder and how to replace them with the machine but still get the desired finish!
As far as I am concerned anyone can learn to sew and every home should have a sewing machine, every week I see how sewing and quilting can build confidence, forge friendships and fire imaginations and am so happy when yet another person starts their quilting journey.....and if you think this sounds a bit evangelical you should hear me after a glass of wine!
