North Country Quilts: In Celebration of New Acquisitions

As many of you will know, the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle has a new exhibition this year. Entitled 'North Country Quilts: In Celebration of New Aquisitions' it will run from 20th March to 19th September 2021. (Covid regulations permitting) Curated by Joanna Hashagen, The Bowes Museum's Curator of Fashion and Textiles, and Dorothy Osler, (who is well known to BQSG members), the exhibition will have 28 quilts on display.

But for a look now at how the quilts are being prepared, then grab a cuppa and watch this very interesting video with Cecilia, the Museum's Textile Conservator - she does look very cold!
