The 2010 seminar took place at the Macclesfield Silk Museum from Friday 29 October to Sunday 31 October 2010. We were treated to four interesting papers on a variety of subjects. Kay Swancutt talked on ; ‘Harmony in Cloth: Nature’s Mathematical Relationships, Theory into Practice’, Debbie Evans explored ‘ A North Wales Tradition’, Janet Rae described ‘The Wemyss School of Needlework & the Business of Quilting 1928 to 1939’ and Vivienne Johnson discussed ‘The Great British Quilt Story: Fact or Fiction?’. We were also treated to an illuminating talk on Thomas and Elizabeth Wardle by Brenda King. The four papers will be published in Quilt Studies 12 in June 2011.
The group was able to explore the Museum at leisure and many appreciated the opportunity to view the workings of Paradise Mill. More information the Museum is available from its website http://www.macclesfield.silk.museum/
